PRODUCER INFORMATION

Beneficio San Marcos  is located in a small town called Santa Cruz in the municipality of Sensenti. it is very close to Guatemala and El Salvador borders. only a few years ago it has become the business link of specialty coffees.

Beneficio San Marcos (B.S.M) was formed in 2013, not only with the idea of forming another coffee exporter, but to help many producers of the Ocotepeque area, who did not have the opportunity to access differentiated markets and obtain fair prices for their coffees.

The coffee production is in the hands of small and medium producers whom incomes depend in 80% of the grain, through the organizations producers are trained on the sustainable management of the crop with good ecological practices, promotion of social participation and fair treatment.

PROCESSING INFORMATION

Blend “Origen San Marcos” is selected from coffees grown on farms located in the Ocotepeque department, near the to the Guatemala and El Salvador borders.

The location of their farms among special microclimates, the proper management and good soil conditions make the plants stay healthy and can give great results in the cup.

The producers have a great conscience for the environmental preservation as well as the fair treatment by the people that work in the farms and their families.

The cup has an exotic profile and is characterized by malic acidity, creamy body and a long-lasting aftertaste. It is coffee with an aroma of ripe fruits, and flavors of peach, honey and chocolate.

All the farms are georeferenced according to height, type of soil, climate varieties and then a sample is taken to taste it and define the profile of each one and mix the coffee that have similar characteristics each other.
