REGIONAL + PRODUCER INFORMATION

Shaped by beautiful highlands with sloped hills and clear water, Karambi is at 1893m above sea level, around 21 km from Kigali-Karongi-Nyamasheke road. Coffee is grown on clay loam soils on highland of congo Nil crest near Nyungwe Notinal Parc in Karambi sector of Nyamasheke District. It experiences a moderate tropical climate with four seasons of which: two are cold and the rest dry. It  experiences  relatively  large quantities  of  rains  especially  in  the  Months of April-May and October-December of every year. The washing station, constructed in 2016/17, serves over 400 smallholder farmers who bring their coffee here to sell. The coffee then goes through a series of intensive quality control, such as examination of cherry quality, de-pulping control, fermentation control, and careful washing, in order to process their coffees for exportation.
